Something magic this way comes…

Wicked ³, Book 1

Callie has always known the Abbotts were different. Witches, though they call themselves “Magians”. They are her second family. Harrison Abbott has been her best friend since they were children. Tucker Abbott, her life-long crush. And their brother, Tyghe? A magical pain in her backside.

When the Abbotts need her human perspective to solve a mystery, she doesn’t hesitate. Especially since it means getting everything she ever wanted. A chance to be one of them, to have magic, even if it’s only temporary.

Someone is attacking young women at Triune, a ritual that helps Magians find their perfect threesome—the match that will complete their magic and their hearts. Callie expected to be dazzled by her first glimpse into the Magian world, but the bone-melting desire between her and the Abbott brothers isn’t part of the plan.

Nor is the decades-old secret that makes her the target of a killer…

My Thoughts:

I came across this amazing set of ladies, The Smutketeers, over the weekend through Samhain Cafe (Yahoo Group).  I joined their Yahoo group and joined in on some of the conversations. I realized that I had not yet read anything by any of the authors. Having had a difficult time with my last book I went scrolling through my Kindle to find something by a familiar author when I ran across the name R G Alexander. What do you know...this lady happens to be one of the Smutketeers and I have at least two of her books unread. So I opened up this novella with my coffee in hand started reading.

I couldn't stop reading! My hubby is none too happy as I was suppose to finish pressure washing the deck which completely slipped my mind while I wrapped up with the Magians. I can not possibly tell you any more about the plot of the story than the blurb that I grabbed from Samhain already does without giving too much away so unfortunately you will have to suffer listening to me rambling away about how I feel!! LOL

Those of you that have followed me for a while know that I don't like Anthologies and Novellas are not that high on the list either, however I was pleasantly pleased with this one. When I finished I felt fulfilled. Other than wanting to know what happens next for Harrison and getting glimpses into Callie's Happily Ever After I wanted for nothing when I turned the last page. You know what I mean... so often when reading a novella I feel like things are rushed and I am left wanting more, not a sequel but more story... the author just didn't pull it off for me kind of thing.  Wicked Sexy was the exact opposite, everything progressed smoothly without being rushed. There was enough background information leading up to the romance to make you feel like "this is right!"

The mystery that needs solving opens up doors for Callie that she never thought possible. It also lands her slap dab in Tyghe's arms, something she almost dreads. Tyghe has been the bane of her existence since she met Harrison as a child. Tyghe tormented her, cast spells on her bike, and just made life a little more interesting. It seemed only right that Tyghe and Callie would have this strong attraction to each other after the spell was cast. Problem being that Tyghe is highly jealous of Callie's long time infatuation with older brother Tucker, who is thankfully away on a one man hunting trip.

To top off a wonderful page turning plot, RG can write some explosive love scenes! Ladies bring your fans when reading Wicked Sexy.

From Beth Kery's Website

This time, he’ll never let her go…

Chicago Special Agent Shane Dominic was in love with Laura Vasquez until the day she left him and married another man. Thirteen years may have passed, but Laura’s never disappeared from his fantasies, or destroyed his desire to learn the truth about why she left him. When her husband, the criminal mastermind behind an international ring of thieves, is murdered, Shane knows this is his one last, desperate chance to learn Laura’s secrets. And he’s not above using their scorching hot passion for one another and a little domination to do it.

One look at Shane, and Laura’s own memories come back to haunt her. Her feelings run deep, but she’d never divulge her secrets—a desperate vow that’s compromised when Shane stuns her by taking her as his captive to a secluded cabin. Here, she will finally belong to him, be subjected to his every torturously erotic whim, and be forced to trust him with a shocking truth she’s hidden for so long—one that will expose them to a danger closing in on the both of them.

My Thoughts:

Shane has never gotten over Laura. Their six month relationship ended abruptly when Laura eloped with Huey Mays. Shane has done his best to move on, he has a great career in the FBI and is engaged to a beautiful woman. His position in the FBI has put him right in the middle of the investigation of corrupt cops and Huey Mays is at the top of the list. He hopes that his past relationship with Laura remains hidden so he can finally end the investigation and get the top man in charge. When Huey is found dead, Shane has reason to worry for Laura's safety.

He takes matters into his own hands and risks everything to try to find the truth behind Laura's involvement in this corrupt ring of cops before it is too late. He takes her to a cabin to slowly break down the barriers between them. He executes his plans with white hot passion. Apparently Laura is not so good at hiding the fact that she still burns for her former lover.

Laura has her secrets, ones she must keep hidden or risk the lives of everyone she loves. She learned years ago that she cannot go against what has bound her and determined the path that she has taken. Her husband's death has changed nothing, except maybe putting her in more danger than she has ever been before. Now she has to contend with Shane's domineering need to have her submit and trust him to carry her burdens. This is the last thing she needs, or so she thinks.

Sweet Restraint was smokin' HOT! There is just no other way of putting it. Beth Kery wowed me with Wicked Burn, gained a loyal follower with Daring Time, and Sweet Restraint has me shouting from the roof tops. This author does amazing things!!! Her stories while wickedly hot and push you to the very edge with the sexual tensions and play have a great story with well developed characters that you can fall in love with and a story that will surely pull you in making you turn those pages nonstop and having you begging for more. Not to mention that she always has amazing covers, the Cover Gods must love her! I mean look at this cover... don't you love that those ties are in reach to where she can untie herself if she wants.

Orion by Roscoe James

He whispered in the dark.

‘Tell me where to touch you so I may drive you insane.’

She smiled.

He blew on her ear.

‘Tell me where you find the greatest pleasure.’

Her skin exploded in a million tiny bumps.

He trailed his finger down her spine and insisted.

‘Tell me of your most intimate place that I may rape and ravage you beyond all reason.’

She kissed him softly and whispered back.

‘Touch my mind.’

Blurb:

Genre: BDSM Erotic Contemporary
Length: Novel

Amid the towering monuments of Manhattan's concrete jungle, Pamela Wilkinson wasn't looking for a white picket fence and roses. She didn't yearn for silk sheets and gentle caresses. She wanted something else. Something different. Something good girls aren't supposed to crave and good boys know nothing about. She wanted more than the pull of rope against her wrists, the smell of leather in her nose, and the loud clang of the dungeon door slamming shut on her heart. She wanted the forbidden dance of master and submissive.

Horatio Sloan, wealthy eccentric and not easily denied, demanded more from Pamela than just her body. From a small art gallery in SoHo to the cold marble floor of his study, he would take from her more than her soul, demand more than just her heart, and possess her darkest, most secret place...

Her mind.

My Thoughts:

In Orion you follow Pam through her journey of finding and experiencing a new way of life. You watch her struggle with knowing what she wants while knowing that most people would find it completely insane. In the opening scenes of the book, Pam tells you that she doesn’t want just the average sexual relationship but someone to dominate her mind.

I was mesmerized by Pam’s journey into submissive. I was one of those people who would look at the pictures of leather, chains, collars, etc and think… Nasty. James puts your mind into another frame, allowing you to understand what is going through the mind of a submissive. It’s not about the sex or kink, but about pleasing your mate.

Anyone that is interested in BDSM really should read Orion. This book was thought provoking to say the least. James has created a world in which you are allowed to learn the inner workings of the mind of a submissive and a dominant. Following Pam through her journey, her decisions to become a submissive, the struggle of finding a Dom, her inner turmoil, and eventually her trial as a Dom will keep you intrigued and turning the pages.

Land of Falling Stars by Keta Diablo

Description from Amazon.com:
Penniless, her parents and brother dead, Sophia Whitfield struggles to save her beloved childhood home during the Civil War. Another bluecoat is staggering down the hill, but before Sophia allows him to rob and pilfer like the others, she shoots him. How is she to know it is Gavin, the dark knight of her youth, carrying secrets too horrific to imagine and a passion that ignites her deepest desires? As Sophia gradually learns Gavin’s secrets—and enjoys his talents in the bedroom—she discovers how to finally know her own heart. Can she save the Land of Falling Stars, or will she lose it all to the horrors of the War and Reconstruction? And will the Southern lady and the Yankee soldier be able to recapture the bliss of their youth – this time in each other’s arms?
My Review: I read an excerpt of this book online before purchasing it. I have to admit that I was totally caught within the first chapter and for two days could think of nothing but this story. I broke down and purchased my first ebook in order to read Land of Falling Stars.
Like I said I was hooked from the word go. I could not wait to find out how and when Gavin was going to tell Sophia his dark secrets. Would she forgive him and still love him? I was totally engrossed.
These two were childhood friends harboring a strong love for each other. Sophia was promised to another, their other childhood friend Jesse. Gavin committed himself to loving Sophia from afar and Sophia was not ready to delve into her feelings for Gavin believing that she needed to find and nurture her love for Jesse. Tragedy strikes during the Civil War. The two best friends (Gavin and Jesse) are fighting on opposite sides of the Civil War and Sophia loses her entire family to a fire.
Gavin travels to Arbor Rose after being released from military duty to find Sophia and share his secrets. These two were both riddled with inner turmoil. It seems that Gavin was a slave to his love for Sophia and Sophia was too bull headed to admit that she loved him. Sophia had no problem using Gavin for her needs however never giving him what he wanted in return. It was sweet, heartbreaking, and angering to watch Gavin do so much for Sophia... constantly doing what was right for her but struggling with his love for her and his guilt over his secrets. Sophia really started getting on my nerves after a while, which is why I cannot give this book a 5 star rating. Her stubbornness to admit what everyone else could see and her treatment of Gavin had me wanting to reach into my computer and strangle her. I don't know maybe it is me reading late into the night and taking my lack of sleep out on this heroine, but I couldn't get over how Sophia just refused to admit her Love for Gavin.
Over all I really enjoyed the story, I really loved Gavin and as I have already stated could have strangled Sophia. I am giving Land of Falling Stars 4 stars. I highly recommend reading Land of Falling Stars!
side note: What a beautiful cover page!!!

Nicholas by Elizabeth Amber

Rating: 4.5 stars
Published: 2007
319 pages
Back Cover: Nicholas looks very much like what he is- the handsome, successful heir to a vineyard in Tuscany. But Nicholas is much more, for he is one of the last in an ancient line of satyr men. And the dying king of Elseworld wants him not only to marry, but to wed one of the king's own daughters- a half-human, half-faerie woman unaware of her heritage. Nicholas won't shirk his duty to produce heirs to guard his race's legacies, but he never plans to make his bride his only lover. A satyr's sexual hunger and sensual skills are legendary. One woman will never satisfy him.
Or so Nicholas believes until he meets Jane. As spirited as she is fey, as beautiful as she is innocent, she is nevertheless determined to make her new husband hers alone- and she is eager for him to teach her every deliciously carnal secret he knows.
WARNING! This is a REALLY HOT book... very explicit!!
Review: This was my first experience with a novel of this type. I have read several paranormal romances but this one has topped the cake. As said above this is a very sexually explicit book. There were things in this book that actually shocked me...well not really but they should have! The sexual scenes were great, if not a little beyond my comfort zones. I thoroughly enjoyed the story too.
Jane is completely unaware of her heritage. She is ashamed of the changes that she has been experiencing since puberty... not those of a normal well bred English girl. She abhors anything having to do with wine... she blames wine for her mothers death and her father's downfall. Her father has moved Jane and her sister to their aunts home in Italy. Her aunt has some grand schemes going on... a very devious B**** to say the very least.
Nicholas accomplishes the task set out for him rather easily. Not only has he has found Jane, the daughter of the King of Elseworld, but he has arranged a marriage between them. Jane does not understand why Nicholas would ask for after only a short meeting.
I was not very happy with Nicholas's treatment with Jane at the beginning of their marriage. I could not believe that this man who's sexual desires were so great could be this cold toward the woman who was going to spend the rest of her life with him and bare his children. I was relieved when Jane took matters into her own hands and tipped the scales into her favor. The love that eventually bloomed between these two was sweet and very passionate.
If you are looking for a change of pace and something completely shocking to your senses, try this book out. I look forward to reading the remaining books in the Lords of Satyr series.
