ROR Summer Reading Wrap Up

If you could recommend ONE book for others to read in the Fall Challenge, what would it be and why? This is difficult because I would highly recommend all the books I read for the summer challenge, with the exception of 2 or 3. I guess my favorite one would be Let it be Love by Victoria Alexander.

What was the worst book you read? Lord of a Thousand Nights by Madeline Hunter

Was there an author you found that you LOVED or HATED? I read several new (to me) authors. I didn't hate any of them enough not to give them another try. I loved Victoria Alexander and Mary Balogh

Did you review books that were reveiwed by other readers? If so, were the reviews alike or totally different? I think I had a couple books in common with other readers. Our reviews were different but normally rated the books the same.

Any other Comments or Suggestions?

Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson

Who Moved My Cheese was an excellent short read about Change and how we deal with it. The story uses four characters and a maze in which the characters have to find their cheese. Once they have found their cheese each adapts differently and their cheese is moved. Two characters take it in stride while the other two have a little more difficutly adapting to the loss of their cheese.

My husband bought this book a couple of years ago at an airport on one of his many business trips. He brought it home and told me that I really needed to read it. Of course I just put it on a shelf and said I will sometime. I don't like most of the stuff my husband reads, or maybe it is that I won't give the books a chance. I am now wishing I had read this book sooner. I can see it making a huge difference in my life in the future. I plan on buying several copies and giving them out as Christmas gifts this year!

my rating: 5

The Smoke Thief by Shana Abe

Rue has several disguises up her sleeve, but none will protect her from Lord Langford (Kit). Kit is the Alpha for the Drakon tribe that Rue has spent the last nine years trying to avoid. Her nightly exploits, however, have brought her to thier attention. Now her freedom is at risk, she must find the other runner and Herte to save her life.
This was the first title that I have read by Shana Abe, and I was not dissappointed. The Smoke Thief was a great read. It took a liitle while for me to really get into the book, but once I did I didn't want to put it down. I can't wait to read the next two in the series!
